The Loopfest season is over and it was a great year. Here’s the video index for the 2016 Texas LoopFest. (www.texasloopfest.com). We moved the event inside to a smaller venue and live-streamed it. I hope some of you got to watch it. The videos are all posted on youtube and I’ve been promoting them on facebook. As always, if you want to skip it and get right to it – here’s the whole mess: Texas LoopFest Collection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hIvfP2BLcQ&list=PLjiWJF83CBilSNckraSDbOmA7TN1zyoct This years artists were mostly from Texas and we were lucky to have some out-of-staters as well as Cian from Mexico. It’s really tough to pick out exceptional performers from this year as everyone did a great job. James Sidlo was sublime with his ambient guitar work. Butch Ross was great performing songs with his mountain dulcimer, the duo Momentary Gamelan Ensemble was fascinating as always, Lost Son is a personal favorite of mine – I always enjoy his shows, Derferlow was a unexpected treat as he whipped out video game controllers half-way through his set and starting slicing loops like a crazed butcher, Breaking Light was musically delightful, Daves Device never ceases to impress me with how hard he works on his sets and considerable improvement from show to show, The Winkler had some pleasant audio surprises this year, Spookstina brought performance art to a whole new level, Cian is clearly taking things to a whole new level, Troll Foot Frass brought funky fun down from up North, Arte Sacre Atelier brought the noise, and Xandra Wong was spectacular. I hope you can watch something from all of them. It was a very special night. We gave away some great pieces of gear from our sponsors, we had a great time, and we did had a few technical trip-ups losing most of Cian’s set, although I did manage to save about 9 minutes of it. Here’s the index if you want to click and watch. There’s some great stuff in there. James Sidlo – San Antonio, TX. Guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hIvfP2BLcQ Butch Ross – Tennessee. (I made a short loop cassette once, ....fun) They were available commercially at one time though, intended for repeating messages. On ebay as "Endless Cassette". Makes no difference sonically, it's kind of like the number of bars in the loop. You'll have to forgive my memory if this isn't quite right, I'll be able to check later, SamplerStyle=Sta will make the loop start from the beginning each time, that's probably more what you need. I never used EDP alongside a sequencer/Ableton, but the guy who was expert at this, Claude Voit, isn't on the looping scene these days afaik. iirc he reckoned the only way to really get it working was to use Ableton to send the triggers to Re-Start the loop, and actually turn off the EDPs sync capabilities. Mind you, Ableton may be a lot less inaccurate these days, so may not be quite the same problems. Anyway, see how you get on.....and great to see a new EDP guy andy Mathons On 27/01/2017 19:09, ALexandru Gavril wrote: > Hi ! > > First let me introduce myself . I have SWITCHQUANT set to CYC ( also in the manual i dunno what CYC and CnF means ) > > Thanks in advance and thanks for this wonderful site , can’t wait to start learning some tips and tricks . > > Kind Regards > > Alex ! > > From Loopers-Delight-request@loopers-delight.com Sat Jan 28 10:40:03 2017 Return-Path: X-Original-To: looparc@loopers-delight.com Delivered-To: looper+looparc@arsenic.violacea.com Received: by arsenic.violacea.com (Postfix, from userid 1004) id 473EDFF9F3; Sat, 28 Jan 2017 10:40:03 +0000 (UTC) Old-Return-Path: X-Original-To: Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com Delivered-To: looper+loopers-delight@arsenic.violacea.com DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date:message-id:subject:to; bh=VWcrHfdxdbrxbCsMsyyRQB8tUKDuXWKQbSh3jhuXTG0=; b=LoUaFQBQFgQdn8Yc10LxMj2aK/1lKyPACpX4JELMBpABrX+ixwnw/2pRkEqigQ2xsC Cl0M0MM0maJOiBmjUI2gWaig/HKBWifUcZA+hLV7rQCrt3wDom55QZ34LmsHSG49vY93 hW3Pe1wPdGmqfj7Peo1UPYDaqCATTHSY9rBSnoTgzusAfkWofiqlnBmeQtFoTZeDYr7h zBoYc8+p/TJESmxU/V8BsTZ7V7bdT2ss7c4eQSopSG20ajVonKXZoDYXci3MtlAeayB7 NA78+2cvIwxOAajmpTNFqWQ3eTtmsWF5QOPMtrLBWEJ2Mh5KpxvjolqYNjPbsgWvdKnO utLw== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date :message-id:subject:to; bh=VWcrHfdxdbrxbCsMsyyRQB8tUKDuXWKQbSh3jhuXTG0=; b=MtMP417b7FqeNrNDgu2ONjmEpuf0LENR4Phllzr61SqZrNbmOpngy/U0+Uqz4Q2b7h 4VbVeCBo2QpwCf8EQSv3hOizdXT45XgZyCJtbvw46Xcxk9bK59K1sEephWK4gQhsw0jB GF6vbHaMqaCB3HowNO4+0bU1gfBiAZ1Im49uyQmHXBRdhCE4MmQeNVODHR+OD8XOkKrc 6i757anpXiscOfbW1FxnK79uYTCNIEFIIHHvNe49uS1a5EYdf9+45gR3OeQO/dq2MmIP QD2XuwZ3tDvWAEotiTyOjEFO+BIiDRSM0ObutreuDBAe1F4bDi+yGD9zz5s5KgZNIRK2 Uqig== X-Gm-Message-State: AIkVDXK512H+KFl6wsDfr5cRQvQJI1zpXU5oDIpW1NzN5ZSRnR2Um0473Yt6Db5CqVZnG7yFw/pzo0Mh8Vscng== X-Received: by 10.157.48.4 with SMTP id d4mr5523141otc.75.1485600002105; Sat, 28 Jan 2017 02:40:02 -0800 (PST) MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <2AE9E2E9-156B-408E-90FA-13B85671A1D7@yahoo.com> References: <2AE9E2E9-156B-408E-90FA-13B85671A1D7@yahoo.com> From: Per Boysen Date: Sat, 28 Jan 2017 11:40:01 +0100 Message-ID: Subject: Re: Echoplex Pain ! SWITCHQHANT set to Cycle is also my preferred setting. In case I make a very, very long loop it allows me to go to another loop without having to wait for the long loop to fully play out. Isn't the LOOP4 a fantastic operating system for a looper machine! To me it is close to how a musician's brain works when improvising structured music, which can't be said as truly for the other loopers on the market :-) A tip, to fully appreciate the manual, is to make sure start out with an understanding of the Modes concept. When the looper is in different modes some commands work differently. For example, you are in Record Mode between pressing Record and pressing Record a second time. You are leaving Record mode the second time you press Record, and immediately find yourself in Playback Mode. But you can also end Record Mode with the Overdub switch, or with Multiply, or with Reverse (very cool). Or, oh this is super cool, you can press Reverse before even starting and then the Record switch's second press will both take you out of Record Mode and out of Reverse Mode; resulting in the first loop you created being played back in reverse. It would be helpful with a table listing all commands and how they work differently under different Modes, but unfortunately, there is no such table in the manual. So you need to memorize all that to get fluent in you live looping. Greetings from Sweden Per Boysen www.perboysen.com www.boysen.se
