The culture of what we do.

hey everyone,
I know we've had several threads that sort of revolved around this topic in the past, but in an effort to promote live looping, I'm going to pitch an article on the artform and culture of our craft to the Berklee newspaper, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could post your thoughts on what constitutes "live looping" and separates it from other music to this thread.  (I'd like to address stuff like whether integrating pre-recorded samples is fair game and "exactly how much looping do you have to do to be considered a 'live looper'?", that sort of thing.)  Feel free to get as tangential as you like in addition to the "philosophy" question.   (i.e. what set-up/hardware/software you use, how you go about composing or improvising within a looping context, influences/luminaries in the field, important festivals, etc.)  Please include your names, where you're from, and a link to your website if you have one, so I can throw some name checks around throughout the article (LD will of course be getting a mention, does anyone know of any other looping-dedicated sites or forums out there?)  I know this sounds extremely broad and has the potential to get cluttered and messy as a thread, but I'm trying to get a fairly panoramic scope, so please go nuts and wax ecstatic, expound at length, and generally rhapsodize to your collective hearts' content.  :)  Thanks so much, and happy looping.  (Also, happy 4th of July to all those in the US, may your barbecues be epic, your beers be cold, and the fireworks be outstanding.)

-Travis
