(I also think that no matter what occupation you are involved in, it is important to value yourself. If you give something away for free, people tend to treat you and your work as worthless.) Amen, brother. I work in the IT industry as a technical support/systems engineer on HP NonStop systems. I've seen the value of off-hours/after hours/weekend work become devalued so much that employers think they are entitled to "non-stop" support from technical staff 24x7 (with, of course, no O.T pay) . And that's the problem. It's essentially free work that's being done. As you said, no one values free services. But, oh, I forgot...we're "considered "management". Right........
