Hi James, sorry I'm getting back to you so late, You should check out the New Roland CD1 (i think its called that) It is a stand alone CD recorder with CFC storage capability and non compressed files, built in mic pres atc.. You might be able to use it as a burner for your Yamaha and it would make a great portable field recorder as well.

Hello everybody,
 
                I'm looking for a replacement cd burner for my Yamaha AW16G hard drive recorder. Supposedly it's proprietary, so you can't just slap any laptop burner in. Yamaha wants $500 for a new one.
    Any suggestions for a work around? please e-mail me offline concerning this.
